Curriculum
TeraU is a unique blend of computer technology instruction, study skills, business skills, and project management taught by experienced instructors who emphasize practical hands-on training.
Grant-receiving high schools add the TeraU class to their regular daytime curriculum. The class takes three hours/day, five days/week, for a total of 240 hours/semester (i.e., 480 hours/year). Students receive intense training in:
Study Skills—How to take notes, outline chapters, manage time, and take exams. These are skills that help the students throughout high school and college.
Business Skills—How business works in the real world. How to plan and implement projects, create and deliver presentations, dress for success, introduce themselves and others, and interview with poise and confidence. TeraU produces leaders.
Technology Skills—Designing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting computer hardware systems, software systems, and networks. Developing, deploying, and managing websites, desktop applications, and databases. This comprehensive skillset provides a solid foundation for advanced careers in information technology.
Career Planning—Using technology to investigate possible career paths and determine optimal paths.
Industry-Leading Certifications—Obtaining internationally recognized professional certifications such as IC3, A+, and MCSA. These certifications, together with real world project experience and professional contacts, enable TeraU graduates to seek good-paying jobs right out of high school.
Most TeraU graduates attend college and many of these use their knowledge, training, and certifications to find income that supplements their scholarships.
