Current Schools

Wells Community Academy High School

TeraU has been an active participant at Wells since 2000.  Currently it is a four year program.

Wells is designated as a community academy, serving first the students from its own community of West Town and then, on a space-available basis, students from the broader Chicago area.  The student population of approximately 1100 reflects the cultural diversity of the city.  The surrounding community has witnessed a shift in racial and ethnic demographics, which has resulted in a change in the make-up of the school's population.  Currently, approximately 74.7% of the students are Hispanic, 18.6% are Black and 6.2% are white.  Sixty percent of the children in the neighborhood community still live in poverty; 93.6% of Wells students are low-income.

The school offers a general high school curriculum with an emphasis on computer technology and a variety of post-secondary career pathways.

Maria High School

Maria is the newest TeraU high school.  It is a private Catholic high school for girls that is administered by the Sisters of St. Casimir.  The TeraU program there is currently in the planning stage.

In June 2002, Maria High School was recognized as a National Service Learning Leader School.  This national honor recognizes Maria/St. Casimir Academy for their commitment to community service.

Today, Maria is an active advocate of various community initiatives that seek the improvement of life conditions for all the residents of the southwest side of Chicago.  Most importantly, Maria continues educating young women that come from different communities surrounding the school.
